[Wyewood] For your Consideration: A letter of Intent for the Chatelaine Office from Cathy Williams (Caitriona inghean Lochlainn)

Greetings!

My name is Caitriona inghean Lochlainn (mundanely, it’s Cathy Williams).

I have been active with the SCA since 2015. I have not held an office within the organization yet, but I believe that I would be a good fit for the office of Chatelaine.
I am an extrovert, and I love meeting people, and sharing interests/passions with them. For the SCA, specifically, I already naturally find myself telling people on a regular basis how amazing it is, and sharing how they can learn/experience more about us. I think it would be really fun to get to meet more people who have already expressed their interest in the SCA, and to help to guide them/make connections to help them pursue their interests. To help to fan that spark.
I don’t have an extensive SCA specific resume. I’ve helped with tear down at practices, and events, and helped at gate, and such things. And I’ve been active in the archery community since I started. Just before the pandemic I became the Arcarius to Alaricus Simmonds.
In the mundane world, I’ve had many volunteer experiences. For example, I have volunteered to be a counselor at camps for kids with special needs, and I have helped out at food pantries. But the longest lasting/most comprehensive volunteer experience I had was in our ASL Club, where I served first as secretary, then moved on to become president. The accomplishment I’m most proud of achieving during my time as president was spearheading multiple fundraising activities to raise enough money to bring several Deaf children to the United States for medical care, and a break from the effects of the residual radiation from Chernobyl.
My mundane career involves providing the science materials for every elementary classroom in our District. It requires organization, attention to detail, and a lot of coordination between the different facets of our organization. I’m responsible for making sure everything gets where it needs to be in a timely manner for every single elementary school teacher.
I do believe that, though I have not yet had the opportunity to serve in the capacity of an officer in the SCA, I’ve had plenty of experiences that have provided me with the necessary skills to be effective as the new Chatelaine. And I think it would really be fun to have to opportunity to help other people find their own paths and passions within this Dream we all share.
