[Wyewood] For your Consideration: A letter of Intent for the Art and Sciences officer position from Petra DeWoods

To their Excellencies, the Seneschal, and the current Arts & Sciences Officer of Wyewood:

This is my Letter of Intent to apply for the position of Arts & Sciences Officer in the Barony of Wyewood. I was delighted to see that this position in the Barony was available. The Arts & Sciences are my “jam,” and the primary reason that I enjoy the SCA; I love to learn, conduct research, and especially to make things. I am particularly interested in getting others involved in Arts & Sciences, and I have several ideas about how to go about doing that. I would also be very happy to work with other Officers in Wyewood to facilitate Arts & Sciences classes, shows, demos, etc. within events. I would also love to help organize and facilitate projects in Wyewood to make or repair regalia or furnishings using the skill and talent in the Barony. I returned to the SCA two years ago after a long break to complete my college education and establish my modern career. I have a Masters in Arts in Psychology, and my studies gave me ample opportunity to learn how to properly read scholarly papers, and to conduct thorough research. I would enjoy being a resource in the Barony to help people learn to conduct their own research and to find information to help them grow their personas and deepen their A & S interests. I live in Wyewood. I have a strong desire to become involved in the community of the Barony of Wyewood. I did get a bit sidetracked from this objective due to Baron Yusuf of Blatha an Oir being a longtime friend. Upon returning to the SCA, I spent time in Blatha an Oir due to the familiarity. I ended up entering their A &S Championship earlier this year, and I am now the current A & S Champion of Blatha an Oir. I have participated in the June Faire demonstration and I sponsored and organized the Garb Contest at Autumn War this year. I was awarded the Golden Blossom at Autumn War for my work in the Arts & Sciences. I plan to honor my oath and in the Spring of 2023, my tenure as Champion will be finished. I welcome the opportunity to remain in an Arts & Sciences role in my home Barony of Wyewood and to get to know the people here. Holding an Office is an excellent way to do that! It is my Honor to declare my Intention in this letter. I look forward to speaking with you about this exciting position in your Barony.
