Hello to the Barony of Wyewood and other nearby dancers!
November dance practice is officially moved to 3rd Thursday, for
November only. That is November 21.
Same usual time (7-9 pm), same usual location (my home in NW Kent).
Contact me if you need address and/or directions: sbonnevi at wamail.net or
253-905-1483.
At dance practices, we do a range of dances from the 15th, 16th, and
17th centuries ... roughly 1450 to 1650 ... from a range of French,
English and Italian sources. As English Country Dances always make me
think of the holidays, we will likely be doing several of the more
"jolly" dances. Most people wear modern-day dress, but garb is always
welcome. Comfortable, non-grippy shoes are advised.
NEXT MONTH: Please let me know your thoughts about dance practice in
December. The fourth Thursday is Dec 26, which seems like a day where
everyone might have other plans. We could move to 3rd Thursday again
(Dec 19), or we could cancel December dance practice all together.
12th NIGHT: I have been contacted by Mistress Katlyn McFarland, who is
organizing and leading the 12th Night Ball, and Friday night open dance
practice. She has some lovely things planned! The ball will likely
begin, as has become tradition, with Queens Alman, Earl of Essex Measure
and the Old Alman, to be followed by Branles, English Country, Gresley
dances, and both early and late-period Italian dances.
