Official open call for application to An Tir’s Equity Diversity and Inclusivity (EDI) Council. The overarching mission of the EDI Council is to promote the values of inclusive excellence throughout the Kingdom of An Tir. To create an environment where everyone feels a sense of belonging, is encouraged to reach their fullest potential, and contribute to the success of our Kingdom and the Society. The EDI Council commits to maintaining an equity mindset while understanding the needs of our current and future populace as we work towards a more inclusive Kingdom and Society. The primary role of the EDI Council is to advise the Crown, Kingdom, and Society of opportunities that would help to bring the mission of the Council to full fruition. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: conducting climate assessments, policy reviews, ceremonial reviews, providing for safe and brave spaces, and fulfilling unmet educational needs. The committee will also assist Crown and Kingdom by serving when requested as a rapid response team for EDI issues that may affect An Tir’s members or event sites. In all this and more the An Tir EDI Council will advise the Crown, Society DEI Officer, Kingdom Seneschal, and Kingdom Chatelaine on issues of culture, climate, equity, diversity, and inclusion in An Tir, including recommendations and support regarding short- and long-term strategies to meet An Tir’s current and future needs. For more information about the Council, see the Council page on AnTir.org. The majority of the EDI Council’s day to day work will be conducted online (Facebook Group) and via monthly teleconference, so access to these mediums on at least a bi-weekly basis is required. Additionally, Council membership should reflect diverse membership in terms of race/ethnicity, gender identity, sexual orientation, disability, veteran status, socio-economic status, immigration status, etc. and demographic considerations will be taken into account during selection. Council members will be held to the same standards for online conduct as Kingdom, Principality, and Baronial Officers. If your SCA name or service positions are listed on a social media account, you will always be perceived as acting on behalf of the EDI Council. As such members are expected on such accounts to conduct themselves in line with the principals of Chivalry that are core to our Society. A commitment of 2 years is required for all roles. If you are interested in applying please complete the linked Google form, responding to the following questions, and including your modern and SCA resumes: Why do you want to join the EDI Council? Why do you feel you would be an effective edition to the council? Please explain your experience and/or education with EDI topics, initiatives, etc. Please share your geographic information (city, state/province, and local branch). The EDI Council rotates members roughly twice a year. Would you like your application to be considered for just this current opening, or to also be retained for future openings? The deadline for submitting an application is midnight, October 16th. https://forms.gle/AaDSD4dxQ4genX9s9
