My answer would be yes, but with permission of Their Excellencies.
There would be a conflict as Rasmus pointed out, the current Champion
is supposed to be running the tournament, so how can they compete as
well?  On the other hand, I've noticed that we don't have many in the
field, so allowing the Champion to fight again would be another
entrant.  Maybe part of the condition to fight the second year is that
the Champion recruits at least one other fighter to compete in the
tournament.  Finally, who's to say they will prevail the second year?
