[Wyewood] Cost of sewing machine?

Greetings Wyewood,
 
This week I'm going to be taking my sewing machine in for repair.  I'm afraid that repair costs may be more than the machine is worth, so I'd like an idea in advance of what a new machine would cost.  
 
I know one can spend thousands on a machine.  I don't want that kind.  All I want is a staight stitch, a zig-zag-stitch, and going forward and backward.  The fewer unnecessary computerized widgets that I'll never use, the better.  I just want something basic but decent (decent, not amazing or top-notch) quality that can get through some heavier garment weight fabrics (I am not sewing any tents!).  So, with that criteria, how much would I likely need to spend on a new machine?
 
Brand recommendations welcome just in case.
