[Officers] Officers mailing list not sending messages?

Greetings all,
I was going through the archives and thought I would address this, but
would like to discuss this topic further.. maybe on a new thread.
The biggest problem that I am seeing for messages needing moderator
approval and it "Hit and Miss" on approval seem to be related to content
size of the messages. This means that there is too much text in the email
and the list server does not like this based on its settings.
As a temporary and slight fix I have change the message sizes allowed to
pass with out approval from 40kb to 100kb in size.
There are things that we can to to make this work but there are always pros
& cons:
- we can keep temporary settings or increase them further, but the larger
the messages the more time it takes to send and space to store the messages.
- we can use plain text messages as compared to using pretty messages such
as those presented in an HTML format, this will reduce the size of each
email. It can be a bit of a pain to do this on a personal level (ie. for
each message or configuring the email client) when sending to the list
- we can trim down or trim off the amount of included message history in
each reply we send to the list. While it is nice to understand the context
upon we are replying to, how much is needed?
These are just my basic thoughts for the moment and put it out here for you
all to think about.
