[Officers] Media contact - what to do

Greetings officers:

I pass along this missive from Baroness Aleksandra.  This relates to the news story that appeared on King 5 yesterday about an SCA member down in the Yelm area.  The news story has not appeared on our list, but has generated numerous comments down in BAO.   Should you be contacted by the media or someone in general you do not recognize asking for comment on the matter, please kindly refer them either to myself or the Kingdom Media Deputy and we'll take it from there.  


This has not come up in my memory (at least during my term), but if you are present at a branch sponsored event (e.g. FCS or archery/fight practice) and a representative of the media identifies him/herself to you, you may furnish them with my contact information if I am not present.  There is no need to ask them to leave, but I would encourage you to make it known discreetly to gentles participating that there is a media member onsite.  Remember - diplomacy is key.

Yesterday’s news story seems a good opportunity to remind you all that media requests for comment after happenings like this should be referred to the Kingdom media officer.  Officers, if you get any email hits off the website, you can refer them directly to the Kingdom media officer or to me, whichever you find easiest.
