Greetings to the officers and populace of Wyewood!
~~Recent Activity:~~
I have continued working on scheduling new Arts and Sciences related
activities for the Shire and encouraging Wyewoodians to teach and share
their knowledge.
I have appealed to volunteers to take over the culinary role, and have
received responses from several, but have not yet been able to discuss
it with them. (Partially due to real-world stuff going on.) I appreciate
everyone's patience and hope to meet with folks and talk about some
ideas soon!
I was unable to attend the fifth knitters' meetup on May 17 at Wyewood
in the Park, due to a combination of illness and preparing to fly out of
town the same week. I do not know how many knitters attended this one.
May 13 had two A&S-related projects -- Lord Tomas taught a wire-weaving
class, and Wyewood Pursuivant, Avine, organized a heraldic consultation
night at the FCS. (Lord Evrard stepped in when Avine could not attend.
On April 22, after the business meeting, Countess Elisabeth taught a
class in Heraldic Display.
On May 27, Lady Alianora led the first part of her Heraldic Table
Painting workshop (the workshop will conclude in June).
Scriptorium activities took place in May as well, with more planned on
an ongoing basis. I have seen some very beautiful charters coming from
the Scriptoriums! Thank you to Master Mir for hosting!
~~Future Activity~~
I will continue working on promoting Arts and Sciences activity in the
Shire through both formal classes and more informal activities. Here are
some of the things coming up in the future.
On June 10, Lady Alianora will host the second half of her Heraldic
Table Painting workshop.
On June 14 Dame Esclarmonde will teach a Voice Heraldry class.
I would also like to have next knitters' meetup on June 14, which is a
week earlier than usual, but would allow us to have it at Wyewood in the
Park again this month -- hopefully the weather will improve!
July 23: Wyewood A&S Championship (details coming very soon)
Sundays: Scriptoriums (scribal get-togethers) that Master Mir is
hosting; check with Mir at mir.plemmons at gmail.com to find out the
address and which Sundays this month will have Scriptoriums.
More activities are being planned -- stay tuned.
I want to remind everyone that you don't need to be an expert or a
trained instructor to host or teach activities. You just need to be
willing to make it happen! So if you are wanting to do a specific
activity, consider offering to *host* it. And if you have a location for
the activity, that is a good thing to offer, too. We don't have to have
all of our activities at the FCS.
I would also like to encourage everyone to start thinking about things
you might like to enter in the Wyewood Arts and Sciences championship
this summer. Even if you don't feel you can win it, entering allows you
to get good feedback on your work and it is very helpful. If you are an
artisan, a performer, or a researcher, it is a great opportunity. Please
do consider it.
The championship will be held outdoors, so you might want to consider
that while planning your entry.
I think that's it for now! Questions, comments -- just let me know. Thanks!
