A note from the July Coronation 2025 event team about this year's event.
"Story time
Grab your tankard, maille blankie, and favorite stuffed squirrel. It's story time.
First- change is hard. New things aren't always fun. Times are a changing as the world turns. This may not be the type of event you hoped for. It will be ok.
Second- don't panic. I'm doing that for you. I floated an idea some of us had been talking about and had to make it happen sooner than planned. There were no other bids, in March, for a July event that takes space and time. Our beloved kingdom used to have events covered a year or two in advance. Many things have changed that. For the love of what shreds of overrated sanity I have left, look at the calendar and put bids in! This stuff takes time and while I get to work with the most amazing team in the Known World and we can do it, I am sure others would like the opportunity. Between lost contact info, emails going to spam and a late start. This has been quite the adventure.
Third- think of it like Ursalmas- there is an event. Lodging is elsewhere. While there is a hotel attached. The room block is small first due to not being sure if we would be doing it and after time, another event was added next door at the Toyota Center. This means we have a small room block and can't get any more at the attached hotel or the other two in the same parking lot. We do have the suites for vigils on Friday night. We are working with the hotel to see if our room block can be around some of those suites so that we do not disturb the rest of the customers. This convention center and hotel set up has a lot of potential for future events for us. We don't want mess it up.
Fourth- yes, information is slow to come. Part of the joy of the amazing tag team process that doing an event has. I've been waiting to put information out until I had information to put out. Unfortunately, this seems to have led to concern. This team has done every kingdom level event at least once except this one. It will be OK. And this also doesn't mean that this will be the same format it will be in next year. Perhaps we'll figure out how to wiggle the calendar so we do not have an event in the dead of winter and an event in the furnace of summer.
Last- patience is a kindness. On the other side of this event, there will be even more stories. We will get through this and might even have some fun.
Latest update- I'm hoping to finish out contracts this week. Then the ball can get rolling. There will be info for the closest RV camping and tent camping places to the site. We could not establish RV parking at the Convention Center or the Toyota Center.
Now- anyone need a hot cocoa and a shot before you get tucked in? "
