Thank you for your response! Great questions! 🙂

It is a little short notice, for sure, but we were invited via a flyer & a rumor (a flyer was handed to one of our volunteers at Comic Con with the message that we had been invited to be a part of this event, but no names were exchanged) so, by the time the flyer got to me, I wasn't even sure who to contact lol
It took me a minute to track the production team down to even confirm the invitation, and then a minute to get the details from them on what the space and expectations were. So, I'm definitely catching up now!
Not to worry!  I am confident we can throw together a super cool demo in the time we've got!  🙂🤪

To answer your questions:

  1.
The event is a free outdoor street festival, spanning a couple of blocks of downtown Renton. Other than blocking the street from drivers, I believe it's set up like a street fair or Farmer's Market sort of deal. But with a fantasy twist!


  1.
Parking: street parking, and possibly a few lots scattered about. It may be tricky since it is a street festival. I attached an aerial view of the event so you can share that as well so people know roughly where the borders of the event are, and where we'll be, so they can aim to park nearest our booth- if that helps. And I will inquire further and look around at what parking lots are around there, and at what public transit looks like around there.

I'm still waiting for exact load in instructions. But they did say that they assume that they'll close the streets down at 8am, so that's our tentative plan. I will update everyone as soon as I know.

Since the time is short, I'll put this out on the Wyewood email list and get back to you.  I do have some questions:

  1.
Site Fee?  I checked the city's link you sent and didn't see that there is any site fee listed.  So does this mean it's free?
  2.
Parking?  Since the event is in a street, where would there be parking?  Or is it "happy hunting and good luck?"
  3.
What time to show up?  The city's website shows the hours for the event are 10:00 AM - 5:00 PM, what time should facilitators arrive?

Please let me know if you have any of this information.  In the meanwhile, I'll query Wyewoodians

They've offered us a really nice space, consisting of a 20x20 'booth space' with another 20x20 space in front of us to use as wiggle space for fighting demos, music & dancing and other activities outside the booth.  (I will attach the aerial photo they sent)

They want our booth to be as interactive as possible. Lots of people making and demonstrating and teaching stuff; kids activities; fighting, dancing, music, etc.

The event runs from 10-5, so it's a long day, but it sounds like a super fun event that gets a big crowd every year, and could potentially spark a lot of interest in the SCA!

Since it's in Renton, obviously, I wanted to reach out and see if you/Wyewood would like to collab! I heard your Chatelaine position was vacant currently, so I am sending this to you to see if you all have any interest in getting involved. 🙂
