Hello to Wyewood and dance friends
Just to let you know that there is to be a Ball with live music at
Autumn War/Emprise, on Saturday night after court ... timing depending
on what "after court" looks like.
AND there will be (6) dance classes all through the day, so you can tune
up for the Ball and try-out some further, possibly more complex, dances
in the various dances European Renaissance dance genre. Note that most
of the dances for the ball will be taught in one or another of the
various dance classes during the day. We have three teachers, each
teaching two classes, so you can get a feel for different types of
dances.
Dances for the ball include:
* Sellenger's Round
* Branle Simple (Tangle Branle)
* Horse's Branle
* (possible sung branle, "Sur le pont d'Avingon")
* Lady Laiton's Measure
* Queen's Alman
* Ly Bens Disenens (sp?)
* Amoroso -- &/or -- Petit Riens
* Half Hannikin
* Hole in the Wall
* Gathering Peascods
Classes during Saturday in Main Barn (tentative schedule):
* 11 AM - Easy English Country Dances
* 12 Noon - French Dances from Arbeau (Branles & Pavans)
* 1 PM - More English Country Dances (interesting weaving!)
* 2 PM - English Measures
* 3 PM - 15th C Dances (roughly 1450-1500)
* 4 PM - Two 16th C Italian Dances (from 1581)
