Continuing our series on Wyewood Baronial awards and recognitions, today we look at the Wye Knot.
The Wye Knot is given once a year to an individual who is the best embodiment of the spirit of Wyewood. This individual is a well rounded person who is active in many areas of the SCA and within the Barony. Recommendations for the recipient are solicited from the populace. This award may only be received once.
Originally, it had existed as an award granted by the Baron and Baroness of Madrone, dating back to our Canton days. During the Shire years, it existed as an unofficial, internal honor. It was made official by Robert Trinitie and Gabrielle Lepinay, first Baron and Baroness of Wyewood. At that time, all recipients were made official with the original date of receipt being retained. It is a polling order in which members extend their recommendation to Their Excellencies who make the final decision based upon those recommendations.
First given: Gordon Redthorn July 25, 1998 (AS XXXIII)
Last given: Rauþúlfr inn Orþstóri August 3, 2019 (AS LIV)
Number of Awards recipients: 19
