Hail Wyewood!
Your baron here with some observations about Kingdom Arts and Sciences and
Bardic competition last weekend.
Deunan Shiruba Berkeley, our Arts and Sciences champion, entered the full
competition with three entries. She has spent months on these entries and
showed amazing skill and dedication to her research and crafting,
especially her gaming table! I thoroughly enjoyed each and every part of
her display even if the judges thought differently. Her grace under the
vast pressure of competition and being judged was very admirable and she
comported herself as a true champion. Now that it's over, Adrianna's
transparency and willingness to share what she learned is even more
commendable and I am so proud of her!
I am also proud of my Baroness Denise Alessandra Garlington for like many
she served in the back rooms tabulating the judge's score sheets, helping
to assure the smooth running of the event in a timely manner. I wish her
well on her travels to Gulf War and expect to hear stories of the fun she's
been having while I'm taking care of the cats ;-)
Our undoubted King and Queen, Styrkarr Jarlsskald and Dagrun Stjarna have
my admiration for emphasizing the arts and sciences this reign and have
truly backed their words with the creation of many new awards of the Lion's
Mane, Scholar, Sable Bonnet and the Terpsichore Fox (Which was first
awarded at our Feast of Saint Bubba.) Vivat Your Majesties!
Most of what I enjoy about this event is meeting those who are entering
only single entries. With the actual competitors having to speak three
times before the judges single entries only have to once and then the time
is their own to chat with whoever happens by asking questions.
I learned much about the color purple, spinning wire around silk and
knotting it (Posements?) than ever before. It's so much fun to just ask a
question and watch their faces light up as the presenters show what they
have learned.
Evrard, Baron of Wyewood
