Rain threatened all around today and we had several reports of rain quickly
on it's way. But prayers were sent up and Lo! Baron Robert, who is
responsible for all clement weather at the range, spoke and it did not fall
on us!
I swear that's how it happened, really really.
(Time honored tradition, Earl Cire also was given this duty as Patron of
Wyewood.)
Seven archers braved the clouds and took to the line to test their mettle,
improve their focus and see where the missiles hit. And I think you'll see
from the scores they did rather well!
One thing I like to do towards the end of a practice is to challenge an
archer to Best of Center competition. You begin with a predetermined set
of arrows, in this case 6, and the closest arrow to the mark is the
winner. That archer then loses an arrow and you shoot again. This
requires focus and consistency and is an excellent test especially when
already tired. Geoffrey of the Reeds accepted my challenge and it came to
a final round of a single arrow each before he was defeated and he shot
with excellent focus all through the competition.
Next time Geoffrey!
To the Scores!
