Greetings from Rauthulfr, the current Wyewood A&S champion!
One of the exciting things which will happen at Champions will be the
Barony's first Phred! [Or maybe it's Fred, spelling is optional.]
There will be lots of space to bring your A&S projects to show off, to ask
for help, and to shine. This year, once again, the Art's & Sciences
Championship will be at the Winter Feast, but that doesn't mean that we're
going to neglect our projects.
*A Phred is not a contest, although people are encouraged to bring tokens of
appreciation to gift.
*This is mostly about projects from SCA period, but if you're just getting
started on something new, then period-ness is not all that important.
*No project competes against any other, instead we get to share tips and
ideas about how to make things even better.
*There is no requirement about what projects to bring, however, we will be
outside so plan for wind and it is likely to be hot.
*It does not matter if your's is a beginning project, or if you've been
doing it for a bazillion years. Absolutely Everyone has something to learn,
something to teach and something to share.
*What to bring:
>Your project, OK, this one isn't hard.
>Documentation for your project. Since this isn't a competition, feel free
to bring sources you are working from
>Willingness to talk about something you are excited about. Probably not
hard either.
>Willingness to give respectful and constructive observations about other
people's projects.
>A chair, and something to write on.
>Enthusiasm!
>Questions, answers, and an open mind.
And speaking of questions, don't hang on to them! Since there are
undoubtedly things I haven't thought to mention, ask early and help out your
event team.
