Wyewood Officers' Meeting Minutes
September 23, 2010
Officers present: Tomas, Esclarmonde, Dearbhail, Katarina, Wenyeva
Officers excused: Avine, Robert, Lianore
Also in attendance: Alianora, Elin, Chris
Meeting was called to order at 7:00 PM
Tomas read portions of the minutes of the Seneschals' Meeting held at September Crown which dealt with responsibilities of handling of SCA funds and getting reports to everyone's Kingdom superior and branch Seneschal in a timely manner.
Tomas repeated his request that items of importance to the branch be brought to the attention of officers BEFORE being put to the populace for their approval. It is embarrassing to have a superior officer to ask about a plan and not have any awareness of what the plan entails.
Old Business:
Alianora is still researching the possibility of getting "Bubba Gear" made, to be an ongoing fund-raiser. Profits could add to the regalia sinking fund, which currently has about $700 in it. The money could go to adding to or replacing Champions' regalia, or purchasing items that would be needed when Wyewood votes in favor of change of branch status.
Beleg still gets all updates for the Wyewood web site. He requested that information from Wenyeva, who will be replacing Countess Elisabeth as Arts and Sciences Minister for the balance of that term.
Ulrich reported (e-mail report) that Rapier practice is still happening at Liberty Park in Renton on Thursday nights. He has had 4 - 6 people regularly participating.
New Business:
Alianora is in the process of looking into the possibility of submitting a bid for either May Crown or July Coronation in 2011. There was a discussion as to site availability and requirements in the South King County area, and also about other possible sites in close-by areas. It was brought up that perhaps one of the neighboring branches would be interested in co-hosting such an activity with Wyewood. Tomas was asked if he would contact the Seneschal of Blatha an Oir about this idea.
A reminder was given that, since the Emprise of the Black Lion will have Her Majesty in attendance, that this would be an ideal time to submit names for Kingdom awards. There is a place on the An Tir website to do this. http://www.antir.sca.org/recommendations.php
Budget for the food for two meals that Wyewood is serving at the Emprise was approved for $500, although Chris and Elin doubt that they will need that much (in 2007 the budget for the same two meals was $400, of which less than half was spent).
There will be a poll of the Wyewood populace on whether to renew our commitment to NHCC for another year of meetings at the current location. (Tomas spoke with the president of the club on 9/14, and there will be no change in our rental rates for 2011, as long as the date request is made by a member of that organization. Currently, Wyewood has three people that are members) Should this poll include the question as to frequency of FCS (stay with two times a month or go back to 4), or to have additional small group functions at other (free) locations on "off" weeks.
Katarina said that she has gotten budget requests from most of the officers. She will verify what positions are currently vacant and not requesting funds.
It was moved and seconded that the 9/24 Business meeting should be postponed, as quite a few people will be assisting with set-up at the Emprise location.
The Officers' Meeting was adjourned at 8:30 PM.
