Officers Meeting November 8, 2010

Those in attendance: Avine de Hert, Dearbhail, Beleg, Emm’e, Constantine, Tomas, Wenyeva, Esclarmonde, Katarina, Wilhelmin, Alianora Greymore, Mir, Tymme, Fiona

Thanks to Tymme for taking minutes.

Website updates may be posted as early as Friday, this week, by Beleg.

Fighter workshops: The first one was last Saturday. Constantine reported it was worth attending, and well run.

Rapier Practices are held on Thursday afternoons at Liberty Park in Renton. Contact Ulrich for details.

NEW Business:

Much discussion about the how and when issues impacting the branch should be brought to the attention of the officers and/or the entire branch populace. The agenda item will be reworded, or removed, so fewer people will have questions about the meaning of the statement.

Bid for May Crown – no site was found that is available, and compatible to the needs of May Crown, so this is no longer being pursued.

Please refer candidates for a piece of the ‘Wye” to the Seneschal.

Also: Need to round up the list of those who currently have one.

The Known World Handbook is now available, and Mir is placing an order and requested a count of how many Wyewood would like so the order will qualify for volume discounts. Wyewood chose the number 15. Mir said the order will be placed by Friday, and will submit a check request for payment from Wyewood for the copies for the Wyewood Branch.

Because there is an additional fee at the Black Diamond Community Center if we hold a fund raiser, the recommendation was made to have the auction/fund raiser at the December 10 meeting. There have been quite a few people that have pledged items to be sold in the auction.

There were several questions posted to the Wyewood list by Sebastian, and much discussion was made about them. Alianora is nearly ready with a written form of branch policies. There were discussions on combining the officers and business meeting into one meeting, separate from the FCS. December is a great place to test this, as there is no second FCS this year. Tomas will have to find a room with enough room for the people that wish to attend.

ITEMS FOR DISCUSSION

· What is appropriate for officers meeting discussions

· What are SCA events? I.e.: gatherings at peoples home space?

Are email lists being moderated? Beleg said some senders fall into a moderate category occasionally, due to suspicions of spam. He determines why, and takes the proper action.

The budget to be presented to the populace for approval at the December Bus/Officers meeting.

The Chronicler position is open, and is accepting applications. There are currently no applicants for the position.

There was a suggestion to invite people from other branches to our auction. All the officers thought that is a good idea.

There was a request to re-tool/embroider the officer’s baldrics. Wulfwyn has volunteered to machine-embroider the patches. The last time, they were painted.

Tomas said the Barony of Glymm Mere has invited the Shire of Wyewood to their annual Yule feast on December 11. The cost is $7 site fee, $8 feast fee, with $1 off for youths and younger.

There will be a full day of activities, including Brewing Championship, Heavy tournament, Rapier tournament, Archery tournament, Wassailing competition, dessert competition and a cast-iron frying pan throwing competition. Pre-registration required. See the AnTir website for the event documentation, which includes the menu.
