Wyewood Officers' Meeting

August 9, 2010, 7:00 PM

Kent Library

Officers present: Tomas, Avine, Beleg, Miranda, Dearbhail, Constantine, Catarina, Ulrich, and Lianor

Branch members present: Tymme, Fiona, Alianora, Grace, Leonard and Elin

New Business:

Sept. 13 Officers' meeting will be held at NHCC, traded date for 12/24, after officers decided that holding FCS Christmas Eve would be pointless.

Reminder: all business pertaining to the branch should be brought up to officers first, before being presented at business meeting.

Winter Fighters' Workshops: Sir Rauokinn asked if Wyewood is again interested in sponsoring the Winter Fighters' Workshops. There was discussion, and Constantine brought up additional information pertaining to the workshops. Rauokinn is looking for less expensive sites that would work for these events. The current location has everything needed (classroom space, covered and lit area for fighting, etc.), but is costly. She is also looking at reducing the number of workshops from 6 to 4 (October, November, January and February).

A vote was called for and the officers unanimously decided that we will continue to sponsor these events. Constantine will inform her of the decision.

No other new business was brought to the table.

Open offices:

Tomas will be stepping down as Seneschal in April, 2011. Constantine is the current contingency deputy, but the position will be posted so other branch members may also place their names into consideration for the office.

As of this evening (8/9) Dianora has resigned as the branch Chronicler, stating that modern life events require her to give up some activities. As of tonight, the office is again open. Chronicler is not a required position, but it is good to have someone that is committed to reporting what transpires at officers and business meetings.

Upcoming Events:

Emprise of the Black Lion: Grace reported that planning is still in progress, and that there will be only one more meeting before the event. She is still looking for someone to take charge of planning the Saturday night feast. Chris will assist, and Elin's house is still available for staging the meal. Countess Elisabeth is also still looking for heralds to announce the tournament contestants.

Culinary Symposium: Miranda will be assisting Raphaella and Countess Elisabeth in the planning.

Autumn War is next weekend (8/112 - 15). There will be a number of Wyewoodians attending.

September Crown: Alianora has requested the use of the Wyewood pavilion for this event. She will arrange with Lianor to get it. Alianora will also be coordinating a Wyewood encampment for the event, and will be requesting erik space, too.

Events since last meeting:

Wyewood Champions' Tournament and Summer Feast report was given. The event made money - $761.19. The event report has been sent to Kingdom, as well as a check for $50, representing payment of non-member surcharge of $5 for 10 persons.

Hot Summer Lights: Quite a few Wyewoodians attended this event, including Ulrich, Johann, Dearbhail, Tomas, Elin, Lianor, and Evrard. The event included war scenarios for the first time, this year, and they hope to do so again next year. Wyewood's fighters are encouraged to attend, as the fighters had a grand time. Ulrich judged the "duct tape and twine" and "tall tale" contests, and Dearbhail was a guest judge for the "Chopped" cooking competition. She says that SPAM has never tasted so good! Evrard is the new Archery Champion of Druim Doineann, and Johann Fairhand was the best teller of tall tales. Huzzah to both!!!

Old business:

Beleg hopes to have all web site updates done within the next week. Any updates should be sent to him.

Officer rotation: The Herald is next in rotation for 8/13's FCS.

Other business:

Alianora enquired if it was all right for her to check around about having some Wyewood T-shirts made up. She will check with Café Press and other companies to check costs, etc. She also wanted to know if there is interest in compiling cookbooks of recipes that the culinary group or feast planners have used. Elin said she would assist on this type of project.

Ulrich stated that Wyewood Rapier practice is now happening at Liberty Park in Renton. On 8/5, there were 4 participants, and several spectators expressed interest in joining the group at future practices.

Katarina is asking officers for updated budget requests, so the 2010 budgets can be revised for the remainder of the year, and so that the 2011 budget can be prepared. She would like this information by the end of August, so that she can have a draft done for the September meeting.

August 18, Wyewood will be doing a demo at Boeing's Auburn facility's Diversity Fair. Esclarmonde is spearheading this.

August 14, Madrone is doing a demo in North Bend, and has asked any Wyewoodian that wishes to participate, to come join the fun. Contact Heinrich if you are interested.

It was moved and seconded to adjourn the meeting at 8:05 PM.

Respectfully submitted,

Elin Karlsdotter,

Chronicler, pro tem
